Happy Trails QT!
I’m sad today. My best buddy, Queen Taunya, is heading to Dubai for 6 weeks tomorrow. She was lucky enough to get asked to work on a custom training project for one of our customers over there. How exciting! I’m sad because she’s the sister I never had. I’m sad because now who can I go complain to when something sucks? I’m sad because we haven’t gotten to go golfing together yet. I’m sad because she’s my lunch buddy - who will I share Chipotle burritos and General Tso’s chicken with? I’m sad because having her work in the same building makes it easier to go to work every day. I’m sad because QT and I share a brain . . . at least a couple dozen times we’ve come to work dressed in exactly the same clothes. Some days, neither one of us has custody of the brain . . . like the day we planned to go out to lunch together and I rode my bicycle to work and she rode her motorcycle to work - both of us sure the other would have a car. We got a coworker to drive us to lunch
Other days, we play the part of the old married couple:
QT: Do we like the crab rangoon here?
Me: I dunno.
QT: What? You dunno? You’re supposed to know this stuff.
Me: Have we ever had it here? I don’t remember ever having it here.
QT: I think so, but I can’t remember.
Me: Actually, have I ever been here before?
QT: Yes. You’ve been here.
Me: I don’t think so.
QT: Yes you were . . . when we came with Duc.
Me: Hmmm . . . are you sure I wasn’t on maternity leave?
QT: Yes I’m sure because it wasn’t more than 5 years ago.
Me: Oh. Well, I don’t remember if we like the crab rangoon here.
QT: What good are you to me?
So there you have it. QT will be travelling to Dubai for 6 weeks. She’ll get to snowboard indoor, drive around the dessert, and experience all kinds of other wonderful things that most of us could ever only dream about. And what’s really great is that it’s all on the company’s dime . . . what better way to travel and see the world.
Go check out the blog she set up to document her travels . . . taunyatravels.blogspot.com . . . see what she’s up to . . . see how friggin’ hot it is there every day . . . live vicariously through her like I will be for the next 6 weeks ![]()
