We went to Target to get some clothes for Princess, and we had to go “across the aisle.” Yup, she finally grew out of the toddler section, and I’m really bummed about it. A 5 year old should still get to choose little girly stuff, like jumper dresses with cute striped shirts and matching tights, or shirts with a simple smiley face on them, or pants that actually cover her behind when she bends over. She shouldn’t have to choose short cropped shirts, low cut jeans, shirts without characters on them, or skirts that barely cover her behind.
We did find some good stuff for her that she really liked and that passed the Mommy test. But it’s getting more and more difficult as she’s moved out of the toddler clothes, and it makes me sad
Not only because it’s more difficult to shop and the clothes are more expensive, but also because it means she’s growing up.
At least she’s still OK with me telling her she can’t have something because it’s not appropriate or is too expensive. I guess I need to appreciate that as long as I can.
I will never forget the first time we went “across the aisle”, for my first daughter. We all of a sudden went from cute t-shirts, jean capri’s, jumpers…..to mini-skirts and sequined spaghetti strapped tops! I almost cried, I was so sad! I couldn’t find a damn thing that I would approve of! It’s so sad that teeny little girls are already given the option of dressing WAAAAY too old for their age.
It brings tears to my eyes everytime I think about how Princess and Dude are growing. A positive thing in many ways because they are so fun to talk to and it’s great to hear them talk about their adventures and to hear their take on things, but at the same time also sad. You are soooooooo lucky to have two beautiful children!!
Clothes are so hard to buy now! Megan is my trendy one and it’s hard to find things I approve of and yet are in style for her. Taylor wears anything as long as it doesn’t “itch”. Like the dress I bought in MN that she put on today and said she couldn’t wear because the sleeves itch. Makes me crazy! Couldn’t you have decided this in the store! I always say I am only going to buy 3 shirts and 2 pants because that’s all they end up wearing anyway. But I love buying clothes for them!
I feel your pain. We too have moved across the aisle and nothing there is very cute.
I feel your pain! Because Ashlyn is so tall- she is 4 in a size 5. So we have crossed the aisle and it was sad.
Joelle is just on the edge…but you’re scaring me!!!
