It’s me, opening the last bottle of Cherry Coke I’ll have until Easter.

I’m giving up sugar for Lent . . . well “frivelous” sugar as I call it . . . no cake, cookies, candy, pop, ice cream, syrup, jelly . . . you get the idea. This is especially tough since Valentines day is right around the corner, and there is ALWAYS chocolate around. And those darn Girl Scouts are coming to the door pawning dime bags of Thin Mints, which make the BEST shakes.
So, I’m going to sit back, relax, and enjoy my last Cherry Coke, and then try to work off the ridiculous number of calories I will consume while thoroughly enjoying said bottle of Cherry Coke.
I commend you! I did a yeast-free diet last year which was similar and it was harder than hell! I could consume 23 g of carbs a day - there is more than that in a glass of juice! And no alcohol! Not that I’m an alcoholic but I do like a glass of wine while I am making dinner and a good micro-brew always tastes good. I lost 10 pounds the first week but can honestly say I can’t live like that. I like my breads and pastas way too much!
I am giving up sweets…which I agree, it sucks with Valentine’s Day in the middle of it.
Hmmmmm. What will I give up for Lent? Tofu. And maybe lima beans. And black licorice. Wow. I’m really stretching myself this year…
I commend you. In my current situation though, comfort food and chocolate are all I have to keep me warm. Sigh…
You are so good! Every year, I give up giving things up for Lent. Just kidding! Sort of. No really- just teasing. Kind of. Okay- I will stop now. I sure hope you enjoyed that Cherry Coke. I have it- this year for Lent I am giving up a full, uninterrupted nights sleep. What? That doesn’t count? Fine!
Enjoy that trip to the Lodge by the way- you will love it. What a fun way to see your hubby while he works that week and have some fun! You will enjoy it- I promise! I love going there.
Oh, wow. You are giving up an awful lot. Good for you!! If you remember my two week Pepsi challenge back in fall…that was hard enough!!
You go, girl!!
[...] I gave up sugar for Lent - not ALL sugar, just “frivelous” sugar as I like to call it. I stay away from anything that has sugar as one of the first 3 ingredients - like the obvious stuff, but also including things like Cheerios, bread, etc. This is usually my breakfast on Easter morning :-) [...]
