Spare Tire

I love my Highlander, but seriously - all the new gadgets and stuff they put in cars now to make you “safer” is just ridiculous, and quite frnakly, really annoying.

For example - I put my backpack with only my laptop in it on the passenger seat. The friggin’ seatbelt light starts flashing and beeping every single time. Here’s why that annoys me. You’re not supposed to have a kid under 12 in the front seat, and no baby seats, etc. So basically, there should be at least 100 pounds in that seat. Yet, a 10 pound backpack sets off the seatbelt light. Please make that stupid sensor not sense anything under 50 pounds! Sheesh. I can’t imagine all the beepers and sensors that will go off when the car is filled with cases of Girl Scout cookies on deliver day!

And the low tire light. It’s been on FOREVER! Seriously, over a month. I keep checking and checking the tires. I took the car to Big O where we bought the tires to have them check to see if I was just stupid. They made the tire pressure be perfect and sent us on our way, telling us it might take 30 miles for the light to go off. Um ya - 2000 miles later after our trip to MN, the light was still on. We were due for an oil change, so we took the Highlander to the Toyota dealer when we got back and asked them to check the tire pressure light while they did it to see what was up.

You know what was setting the light off? The spare tire. The friggin’ spare tire is attached to the air pressure sensors! Seriously? What makes it really annoying is that the tire is underneath the car (not stowed under the cargo area inside like in the Jeep - which I LOVE!) . . . so it gets all nasty and dirty and all that jazz. So when the low air pressure light comes on, the last thing I want to do is crawl under the car to check the pressure in the SPARE tire.

Sheesh . . . so those are my gripes about my Highlander . . . Toyota (and Bill Gates) really need to stop trying to HELP all of us :-)

I think Dave might take offense to your Bill Gates comment. May leave him without a job!

What wonderful parents you are to have introduced your children to take a risk, get out of their comfort zone and end up with unbelievalbe experiences.
