That’s Very Old!

I love car rides to school - I can always count on Princess to let me know how it really is . . .

Princess: Mom, how old will you be when we’re teenagers?
Me: Um, I’ll be 41 when Dude is a teenager and 43 when you’re a teenager.
Princess: Wow, that’s really old!
Me: No it’s not!
Princess: Yes it is! Grandma is only in the 50s and 43 is close to the 50s and that makes you almost as old as a Grandma!

I did not get into the part about how Dude won’t be a teenager for 5 years and she won’t be one for another 7 years . . . I fear I would have “lost” that debate as well.

Gotta love that kid!

She is just way too smart! I can’t believe the things her little mind is processing. What a delight. I am still laughing about missiwippy!!!!!
Thanks for sharing. For Pete sake, do not tell her how old I am. Does she know much about fossils? I am close to that!

Gotta love it! How about this one….

DD: Mamma, why do you have so much gray hair on your head? I thought only old people had gray hair. Are you old mamma?

OMG!!! Please, please, please don’t tell princess I am only one year away from 60!!! However, do tell her that while I am indeed in my 50’s it is not old…in fact it seems younger to me every day!!! Afterall, it doesn’t mean your old just because you fall asleep in the recliner often by 8:30 p.m. (in my defense I do get up at 5:15 so I can get into the office early as I am definitely a morning person); it doesn’t mean your old just because you only do half the house cleaning you used to and it takes you twice as long to do that (for some reason and I honestly don’t know why, I woke up one morning and decided I would rather spend my time doing other things rather than being a perfectionist at house cleaning and while I felt a lot of guilt at first I’m getting over it!); it doesn’t mean your old just because when you do go out your normally home by 9:00 p.m. (I think we’re getting smarter because we feel much better in the morning than you young chicks who can still party into the wee hours!); it doesn’t mean your old because you put on wrinkle lotion every morning and it really doesn’t seem to make much of a difference anymore (when Princess was at our house last fall and was watching me put on my wrinkle lotion she asked me why I put that on and I told her so that I don’t get wrinkles…she stared at me for a while and then said, “did you forget to put that on one day?”, I thought I was going to die laughing). Well, I could go on forever…but you get the idea. By the way Grandma Sue…we may be a bit older but we’ve gotten much better with age!! Love…Mom
